The Operation game was invented in 1964 by John Spinello. The game tests players’ fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by having them remove small plastic pieces from the gameboard without touching the edges of the opening. Spinello sold the rights to the game to toy designer Marvin Glass for $500, and the game was produced by Milton Bradley in 1965. Hasbro currently produces the game.
