In the game Taboo, players must guess a word based on verbal clues provided by another player. Players divide into two teams, with the team whose turn it is selecting one member to be the “giver,” giving clues about the keyword to help their teammates guess it before time runs out. On the opposing team, one member acts as the censor, hitting a buzzer or squeezing a squeaker if the giver says the keyword or one of the five “taboo” words. The game was originally published in 1989 by Parker Brothers and is currently produced by Hasbro.
