How did this project get started?
Zach and I worked on a project together previously and we had a lot of fun collaborating. We stayed in touch and one day he sent me this concept for a poo themed card game that was almost fully formed (gross, sorry!). I loved it right away but it took almost a year for us to develop it to where it is today.
What was the inspiration for the game?
That poo is funny? Both Zach and I have young kids but I think that's just an excuse. Beneath our professional veneers we're both deeply immature.
What was it like launching on Kickstarter?
Overall it was pretty amazing but challenging at times since it was our first time on the platform. We were thrilled to be awarded the Project We Love designation but the gaming community on Kickstarter is absolutely the best part. They're such a fun, welcoming, and supportive group of creators and backers and we absolutely love them.
What has the reception been like so far?
It's been really great to see our little game get embraced by so many. The theme and funny packaging draw people in at first but the game play ends up being the real star. It seems simple at first - a new take on Go Fish - but actually requires a lot of memory, strategy, and reading your opponents. I think people have been surprised about how fun it is to play.
What is your favorite card?
The Lumpy Sausage consistency card is my favorite, it's so cute and disturbingly gross at the same time. Honorable mentions for the Egg Fart smell card and the Big Al person card which are also up there for me. Zach's picks are the Wet Poodle smell card because one glance and he can literally smell it. The Puddle of Mud consistency card is his runner up because it's somehow cute.
Talk to me about the illustrations.
The art work in this game is stellar! All walking the line of funny, gross, cute, and family friendly. We take a lot of pride that this game is completely disgusting and completely appropriate to play with the whole family at the same time.
Should we be worried about any expansion decks?
You should. We're already working on an expansion, the hard part is choosing which one(s).
What's next for you both?
In addition to the expansion pack we're also underway on a totally new board game. It's top secret right now but we're very excited about it and are looking forward to introducing it to the world. Stay tuned!
